Recently completed the Mount Everest Base Camp trek (March 2022) with Ian Taylor Trekking. Successfully reached Mount Everest Base Camp (elevation 17,600 feet) and the nearby peak of Kala Patthar (elevation 18,500 feet). One word comes to mind: PHENOMENAL. This is such a professional trekking operation that I wholeheartedly recommend.
Every aspect of the journey is well planned, and the Sherpa guides and Porters are top notch. Your comfort, well-being and success are their main objectives. From the moment you arrive, you feel a sense of belonging to the group, and this continues throughout. An experience of a lifetime, for sure, and there is no doubt that the professionals at Ian Taylor Trekking were largely responsible for making my trek a success.
My trek was led by Ian Taylor himself, and what a treat that was (highly recommend you scope out the treks that he is leading — check their website). Although I had no trekking experience before joining this trek, I always felt comfortable that I was being well-managed, and all of my (incessant) questions were answered with honesty and professionalism.
Make no mistake, there is no substitute for training hard and preparing your body (and mind!) for the trek. Even here, the folks at Ian Taylor Trekking excel. Their website is loaded with useful information on all aspects of the trek, including “how to train” and their terrific “how to pack” videos (check their website). And, their support before (and during) the trek is excellent. They respond promptly to any and all inquiries — no matter how seemingly insignificant. Such a tremendous resource that I greatly appreciated.
Bottom line: I highly recommend you consider Ian Taylor Trekking to book your next (or first) trek. Oh, and by the way, I just booked again with them to make my trek to Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2023 (led by Ian Taylor again!).
